I had this last Sunday off which was wonderful as the kids and I were able to head off to church early in the morning. James was fabulous as he has discovered that nursery is actually fun and loves all the “new” toys. Sam quietly colored beside me in the santuary.
The second song of the service was “Blessed assurance.” I whispered to Sam to stand up as I thought she’d enjoy singing the refrain. She snuggled right in next to me and joined in with the congregation singing “This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long…” Earlier today while playing with James she was quietly and sweetly sang this refrain.
The scripture readings were Deuteronomy 1:19-33 and Romans 8:14-17. The message was on fear and having faith when facing our fears. With my first marathon being next Sunday and having expressed many fears regarding the marathon, such as 1) will I get lost in a sea of 30,000 runners 2) will I get hurt 3) will I be laughed at for going to slow 4) will I be able to finish withing the time limit? …this message was exactly what I needed to hear and be reminded of. Although it’s not yet on the web the sermon should be posted here soon.
The service ended with the song “Because He Lives.”
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
I don’t think there’s an “amen” at the end of that song, but I have to just say AMEN!
That afternoon was the harvest festival at church. The kids had a wonderful time.
