After a summer of applications and interviews Mandi landed her first paying job. I wouldn’t exactly say that she’s lovin it, but she is thankful to be working. Isn’t she just too cute?
I seriously almost started crying when I saw her working. I’m just so proud of her.
Mandi also just started classes at the community college. I think it was a fabulous decision for her to work on her associates there until moving on to a four year university.
I remember being 18. At the time it sure seemed like time couldn’t move fast enough. I just wanted to move on to the next thing. It is so easy to get impatient and board with school and work. And although it is new to Mandi I’m sure she is feeling similarly (or soon will).
I wish I would have known then that experiences build upon one another. A class might seem really stupid and not pertain to the area of study, but if you don’t learn the material you’ll be stuck the next quarter when they build upon that.
The same goes with work, at times I thought “I’m better than this” and that served as fuel to keep at it in school. In retrospect, each job taught me something and proved to be as valuable in experience as it was for those paychecks.
